Bank Statement to Xero
A CSV shaped for Xero's bank statement import.
Ready.
| Date | Description | Debit | Credit | Amount | Balance |
|---|
Your PDF is processed in memory and discarded after the response. We do not store statements.
The Xero columns
Date, Amount, Payee, Description and Reference. Amount is signed: money out is negative, money in is positive. That is the convention Xero's statement import expects.
Import steps
In Xero, open the bank account, choose Import Statements, and select the CSV. Map the columns, confirm the date format and review the transactions before you approve them.
Payee and description
The parser puts the transaction text in both Payee and Description so the import has a usable contact field. You can split or clean the payee after import without changing the original PDF.
Reconcile after import
Xero will match transactions against invoices, bills and bank rules. Review the matches; an import is not a reconciliation.
Questions
What date format does the CSV use?
ISO dates (YYYY-MM-DD), which Xero accepts. Confirm the format in the import screen.
Are amounts signed?
Yes. Money out is negative and money in is positive.
Does it connect to my Xero account?
No. The file is downloaded and imported by you; Stmt2Sheet does not ask for Xero credentials.
What if the statement is a scan?
Scans are not supported. Download the text-based PDF from your bank instead.
